The whole product is one move: grab → stretch → slip on → ears settled → done. Under ten seconds on a cooperative dog. No ties, no velcro, no knots.
The construction (working design)
- Stretch crown — four-way stretch, satin-face knit, lined. The satin sheen is the point; matte wouldn't read as a durag.
- Center seam — decorative, carries the durag silhouette.
- Ear treatment — contoured openings so ears sit naturally. Erect ears (frenchies, chihuahuas) and floppy ears (retrievers, dachshunds) need different geometry — one of the main things we're validating in prototyping.
- Hidden elastic — soft retention at the crown edge. Firm enough to survive a head-shake, gentle enough to leave no mark.
- Rear flap — drapes flat, weighted hem so it doesn't flip. This is the motion.
- Tails — decorative, stitched flat and short. No dangling cords near a dog, ever.
What it never does
Never covers eyes or ears, never restricts breathing, no small detachable parts. Supervised-wear accessory — think bandana, not harness.
